Sustain the Earth
|
 |
"To move a mountain, one must start by moving a single stone" - traditional Chinese proverb
We have come a long way since the 1970's when the first "Earth Day" spotlighted our environmental ideals. The staggering effects of our planetary industrialization are now beginning to stare us in the face and the green movement is in full swing. We have all heard the terms "global climate change", "carbon footprint", "eco-friendly", etc. So why should these really matter to me? The short answer is that for the past few decades, humans have been using approximately one-third more resources than are globally available. That's right; we are degrading our planet faster than it can restore itself. It's called "Ecological Overshoot". That's the bad news. We won't bore you with all the details except to say that it is in our own best interest that we change the way we have been doing things. Read More...
The good news is that you and I actually can make a difference. Just for fun, you can calculate your own ecological footprint at www.footprintnetwork.org. The Earth has served as mankind's cradle for a very long time. Isn't it time we made sure the Earth stayed balanced and healthy for the benefit of future generations?
We must realize that our curbside recycling is not enough anymore! The state of Oregon is leading the country in global and environmental efforts. Experts in our own back yards are creating solutions that are having rippling effects across the globe. It is pretty clear that this is one “trend” that won't go away. And just like moving a mountain, we must begin one stone at a time. At NWS, we are committed to partnering with our clients and colleagues to make the Earth of tomorrow a cleaner, safer, place today. This holiday season, we are encouraging everyone to add the environment to your Christmas gift list! |

There's no doubt about it, going green is the future.
Home Staging is no exception to the green phenomenon! Staying ahead of the curve when it comes to sustainably preparing your home for sale is vitally important. Sustainable Staging goes far beyond choosing energy efficient light bulbs. At Northwest Staging & Redesign, we look much more holistically at each home taking into consideration the materials, finishes, fiscal advantages, resource-efficiency, etc. - at the same time as creating a space that is livable and appealing to homebuyers. There has been a tremendous increase in sustainable building products on the market and “green good looks” are available in all styles and price points. We work hand in hand with homeowners and those in the Real Estate and building industries to provide a significant marketing advantage for properties that might otherwise be unremarkable. A survey of home builders has indicated that 9 out of 10 builders surveyed are incorporating energy-saving products into homes at all price points. Stay tuned for more information in coming newsletters on specific ways that you can market your home in eco-friendly ways.

Northwest Staging and Redesign would like to wish each and every one of you a very Happy Holiday! We hope that you enjoy spending time with loved ones and celebrate the season with joy and cheer. While it is easy to be anxious over the recent economic developments, this time of year reminds us we truly have much to be thankful for. The New Year is approaching, and with it comes the opportunity to start anew, to reprioritize areas in our lives, and rather than focus on recession - choose to focus on Renewal.
Our goals continue to be to add beauty, value, and inspiration to our client's homes. Through hard work, dedication and ingenuity, we can each find success through the coming months. We believe that "what goes around comes around" and by serving our customers' needs, so too will our needs be met. We're in the middle of winter, but it's a fact that every winter is followed - by spring!
